A
tearful Neymar said goodbye to boyhood club Santos after he played his
final game for the Brazilian outfit ahead of his hotly-anticipated
summer switch to Barcelona.
The Brazilian youngster will make the move to the Camp Nou later this summer after agreeing a five-year contract with the Catalan club in a deal announced over the weekend.
Sadly for the 21-year-old, who was booed throughout by rival
supporters, he couldn’t fire his side to victory in his last game for
Santos as they played out a drab 0-0 with Flamengo in their opening
game of the Brazilian State Championship.
"It was an honour to have played for this marvellous team Santos. I am so happy I did," he told Globo TV after the game. "Every child has a dream, either to be a player, a dentist or a reporter. My dream was to become a professional athlete and I have achieved that. Today Barcelona is fulfilling my dream of going to a totally beautiful team."
