Robin scoops goal prize
Robin
van Persie’s opener at Swansea has been named Manchester United’s Goal
of the Month for August after one of the closest votes we can remember.
The
Dutchman’s acrobatic effort picked up 33% of the votes cast by fans on
ManUtd.com and its six international versions, narrowly beating his
rising drive at the Liberty Stadium into second place (32%).
Danny Welbeck’s chip against the Swans followed closely behind on 30%, meaning the top three strikes were all scored in the same game.
Also nominated were goals by Davide Petrucci and Jesse Lingard for the Reds’ Under-21s, and Sean Goss, Ruairi Croskery and James Wilson for the Under-18s.
