Manchester
United defender,Rio Ferdinand on Thursday penned a new one-year
deal,that will see him remain at the club for a further season.
There
were fears that Ferdinand could leave the club,as his last contract was
due to expire in June,with speculations that he could be headed to the
United States of America.
But the 34-year old agreed who agreed to an extension, will now stay to work with new Manchester United manager,David Moyes.
“I am delighted to have signed a new contract. Who wouldn’t want to play in this fantastic team,” Ferdinand said.
Ferdinand who last week announced his retirement from international football,said that he can now focus on his club football.
“I can now fully concentrate on my club career, which has worked well for me over the past few years,” he said.
“I have met with David (Moyes) I am really looking forward to working with him,” Ferdinand said.
New
manager,Moyes was happy that Ferdinand agreed to extend his stay at the
club: “I am delighted he has signed a new contract and I am looking
forward to working with him,” Moyes said.
